  • Dear Michelle,

    Hello,
It has been a few months since our last newsletter. Considering they were coming consistently every week, no doubt some of you have been wondering what has happened to us!

The newsletter is compiled and released by me, Michelle Morand. I truly enjoy creating the newsletter and am grateful to be able to begin releasing them again.

I have been unable to prepare and release a "Genuine Article" newsletter since the 3rd week of October due to a major healing crisis in my immediate family. My 6 year old son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes on October 26th. This event has truly zapped my creative energy as well as occupied every free moment as I educate myself and explore all possible therapies/treatments for the health concern that has presented itself in my family.

I appreciate your understanding of my need to set the newsletter aside temporarily as I find my footing and create a new sense of balance for me and for my precious little pumpkin with this new health issue.

For this week's newsletter, to get us both back in the swing of things, I am choosing to simply inform and update you on what is upcoming at CEDRIC. I'll be posting a newsletter weekly from here on in that will include offerings such as Tools for Recovery article and Ask a Counsellor and more.

I believe you'll find that we have lots of new offerings this New Year.

We have our Yoga and Phase I groups continuing. We have new specialized fitness classes. We have intensive workshops for all stages of recovery. Our cd's are out and our book is due back from the publisher's in a few week's time.

We also have a booth at the Victoria Health Show at the Conference Centre (Empress Hotel) January 20th and 21st.

We look forward to hearing from you in the months to come about your recovery experiences and any needs you may have that we can help you meet!
Love Michelle and the Staff @ The CEDRIC Centre

Yoga is a happenin January 16th

CEDRIC has a new yoga class beginning Tuesday evenings from 6 - 7:30.

Classes are $12.00 each ($72.00) for 6 weeks. You can drop in as well, and space is limited so we recommend that you let us know you're coming.

Instructed by Deb Moncur, these classes are a gentle, safe and supportive way to begin to explore movement and strengthening your body.

If you've ever said: "I'd like to try yoga." Here's your chance in an environment that is geared towards safety, comfort and lasting success.

So, January 16th, from 6 - 7:30 - Let us know if you'd like to come!

New Phase I Group: Food is not the Problem

Join our upcoming group, Saturday's, Feb. 3rd from 10 am - 12 pm for 12 weeks.

This is our fundamental program. All of the basic tools you need for successfully healing your relationship with food are shared over the 12 weeks of this course.

If you'd like more information on this upcoming group, or on CEDRIC groups in general please call us @ 383- 0797 or visit our web page @ www.cedriccentre.com and go to "Our Services" "Group Counselling"

Phase I Intensive Weekend Workshop & Phase II Deepening Intensive

    Phase I and Deepening

CEDRIC is excited to be offering you two intensive weekend workshops this February:

February 16th, 17th, & 18th we are offering our Phase I Intensive which provides you with 3 full days of education and self-awareness. It is very common for participants of our 3 day Phase I intensive to experience profound shifts, not just in their relationship with food but in their entire sense of themselves in their relationships with others and in the world at large. This is definitely a transformative experience.

For more information and for comments from past participants visit our web page @ www.cedriccentre.com and go to "Our Services" "Intensive Weekend Workshops" and please do give us a call at 383-0797.

We are also offering a Deepening Intensive Workshop, February 23rd, 24th and 25th for any current or past clients of CEDRIC who want both a refresher of skills but also, predominantly a deepening of their own understanding of the key elements in their relationships with themselves and with others.

This workshop is for those who are no longer satisfied with anything less than self-actualization! You've challenged yourself in many ways and now it's time to identify and release anything that's holding you back from living your life to the fullest extent.

Both of our Weekend Intensive Workshops offer you daily mindfulness practice training, yoga, group meals, and 5 hours each day of education and self- exploration.

And we're offering something new this time around based on the request and feedback of past participants: 5 on-line group "after-sessions!"

This is where your group from the weekend intensive will meet with one of our counselors on line to debrief any experiences you've had from that week and to receive reinforcement of the skills you learned during the intensive.

Group after-sessions are weekly, for one hour.

The fee for the intensives, including the after- sessions is $636.00 Workshops are limited to a maximum of 6 participants so do reserve your space if you'd like one.

Please send us an e-mail at info@cedriccentre.com or call 250-383-0797 for more information and to register. And, just a suggestion. If you're open to the time and financial outlay, come and work with us for both intensives and have a mini individual intensive during the week in between the workshops. This would provide you with such a strong foundation for healing that you'll sky rocket in your recovery. Repetition is a fundamental key to recovery. Therefore, the more you give yourself the opportunity to be supported in this process and hear the messages of healing and recovery, the more rapid and integrated your healing becomes.

    Fitness: Balance, Strength and Integration

Have you ever heard yourself say: "I'd like to exercise but I don't like the gym atmosphere!"? or "I'd like to exercise but I don't know what to do!"? Well, now you can experience a safe and comfortable atmosphere to exercise, while receiving individual support from an expert trainer.

Join us for two new movement-focused classes with our very own Exercise Specialists here at the Cedric Centre!

Classes will run for 6 weeks:
    Wednesday's: 6:00-7:00pm
    Saturday's: 12:30 - 1:30 pm Class size is limited to 7

Course Fee: $120.00 (for all 12 classes)
    Drop in Fee (space permitting):$12.00

Sessions will progress over the course of 6 weeks:

    Class dates: January 17, 20, 24, 27, 31 & February 03, 07, 10, 14, 17, 21, 24

The focus of our Wednesday evening classes will be posture, breath, and working from the centre (core) out towards the extremities (limbs).

Saturday's classes will build on the concepts introduced Wednesday evening by adding gentle (stretching) and dynamic (with movement) motions to practice and integrate positive body alignment.

Benefits of this kind of restorative and educational physical training include: increased mental acuity and alertness, increased awareness of physical self and the physical need for exercise, increased energy and stamina for daily activities, improvement of physical functions such as respiration, digestion, and circulation, as well as the quality of rest you enjoy in a 24hr period - most notably sleep.

If this sounds at all appealing to you, let us know and join us for our first round of specialized fitness at The CEDRIC Centre.
